“Ou…Patsia…Ra” is a music theatre piece about a sculptress falling in love with one of her sculptures. While falling in love she finds herself lost between two realities; where her sculpture is alive (her reality) and where her sculpture is only an object (our reality). The opera represents the constant struggle of the sculptress shifting from our reality to hers, in order to create a sense to what she is seeing, listening and ultimately feeling. She attempts, she fails and tries again and again…
“Ou…Patsia…Ra”, (meaning “ritual” in the Balinese dialect) places us inside the mental journey the sculptress experiences, in a world where her creation becomes alive.
